Note |
Carisi conducted his own compositions on these four Impulse! sessions, but it is not certain that he also played on, as stated in most of the discographies. Indeed, a very careful listening would suggest that there are only two trumpets and not three as generally accepted. Many discographies give erroneously Van Gelder Studio as recording location. Strangely the discography of the Fresh Sound CD reissue gives Beltone Studios instead of Webster Hall. Due to contractual reasons, these sessions (produced by Creed Taylor of ABC-Paramount Records) were released under the name of Gil Evans who was not directly involved in them. The other three titles on Impulse! A-9 and its reissues are played by the Cecil Taylor Quintet / Septet. |
